Just as many hands work behind the scenes at our office in Grand Rapids, Michigan, countless others help distribute lessons worldwide.

In South Africa, the Crossroads office team plays a crucial role in ensuring the ministry runs smoothly, reaching incarcerated students with the love and truth of the Gospel. Adriana, the office administrator, and Erika, the office assistant, bring not only their skills and dedication but also a deep sense of calling to their work.

Adriana joined Crossroads during a chaotic season in her life. She was looking for a simple administrative job, but God had other plans. What she initially saw as a steppingstone turned into something much more.

“I thought I wouldn’t last long in an administrative job,” she admits. As an extrovert, she didn’t expect to enjoy the routine tasks. But she soon realized that God had placed her exactly where she was meant to be. “You get all these goosebump moments when you read a letter from a student,” she shares. “Seeing God at work in their lives is deeply rewarding.”

In addition to managing the office, Adriana also serves as a mentor. She finds joy in watching students grow in their faith, recalling one student who started with little biblical knowledge but gradually began writing thoughtful reflections with each lesson. “Even in his letters, I can see how he’s growing,” she says.

Erika, referred to Crossroads by her sister-in-law, stepped in to support Adriana as the workload grew. She told us that she is grateful to use her business administration skills for a mission she believes in. “It made me a better person,” she shares, finding fulfillment in witnessing God’s work in students’ lives. Inspired by their transformations, she is committed to serving faithfully and helping Crossroads change lives.

For both women, their work is more than just administration—it’s ministry. “Just by showing up every day and being a vessel for God, we get to sow seeds, water them, and witness how they grow and bear fruit,” Adriana reflects. Their dedication is evident not only in their efficiency but in the care they take to support both students and mentors.

Through their behind-the-scenes efforts, Adriana and Erika help Crossroads South Africa thrive, ensuring that students behind bars receive the guidance, encouragement, and biblical truth they need to transform their lives.
