For forty years, Crossroads has been reaching out to people behind bars who desperately want to hear messages of hope. Until they started studying Crossroads lessons, many of our students did not know that God loves them. Through the lessons and interaction with mentors, many students learn for the first time that they are forgiven if they accept God’s gift of grace, which is freely given to those who believe. Crossroads helps them by connecting them with mentors on the outside who care about them. Mentors review every lesson and answer their questions. Mentors also include a letter of encouragement with every lesson. Students say the letters change their lives. They are moved that a stranger would take the time to write to them and pray for them. For some students, the lessons and letters from mentors are the only mail they receive.
We believe so deeply in the impact of our work that we have set a goal to more than double the size of our ministry to serve 70,000 students by the end of 2028.
