Brian never expected to find himself writing devotionals behind prison walls—but today, that’s exactly how he serves. In a place where drugs, despair, and violence surround him daily, Brian has become a source of encouragement and spiritual leadership for the men in his unit.

“Prison is a huge harvest field, and the workers are few,” he told us.

Brian first learned about Crossroads after serving nearly two years in county jail during the pandemic. “Another [student] shared with me about Crossroads and several other prison ministries. I am grateful for his sharing.” With no access to chapel services during lockdown, Crossroads quickly became his lifeline.

“Crossroads has been such a blessing and training tool for my spiritual growth,” Brian shared. “Each lesson is easily presented and informative. The response sections allow for the expression of my thoughts and discoveries I’ve gained alongside my Bible.”

As Brian completed his lessons, the personal notes from mentors became a treasured connection. “Usually, the first thing I do is read the letter, then see what comments are made in my lesson. The personal notes mean the most to me! They reflect the human aspect of someone committed, caring, and compassionate in their ministering to me.”

Though Brian is surrounded by darkness, he continues to share hope through handwritten “jailhouse tracts.” With paper from the commissary, he writes devotional messages to share with those open to receiving them. “I know several men accepted Christ or re-dedicated their lives to Christ. Two were facing murder charges and possibly 20+ year sentences. God is good!”

Today, Brian hosts small devotional studies and refers others to Crossroads to help them grow in their faith.

You can be part of this. When you support Crossroads, you’re not just sending Bible lessons—you’re equipping men like Brian to be missionaries behind bars.

Brian shared how meaningful the simple gift of a postage-paid envelope has been. “Many people in prison do not have the ability or money to buy stamps,” he said. Because of your support, Crossroads can continue providing these lessons free of charge to those who need them most.

Give today to equip students like Brian—and help them share the hope of Christ where it’s needed most.
