Maurice’s Story:
Giving Back by Going Back
After finding a Crossroads bookmark in a small Gideon Bible in his prison cell, Maurice began a journey of discovering God’s love for him and his true identity in Christ. Crossroads Bible studies and letters from his mentors gave him a solid foundation on which he built deep faith.
When Maurice was released, he never expected to step foot in a prison again. But God opened the door for him to work at Prison Fellowship as a field director for the state of California.
He oversees almost 100 volunteers and dozens of programs in 12 prison facilities in California.
“I never planned to go back into prisons. But I know I’m exactly where I need to be,” Maurice said. “Now I can go to the places I once was confined in and I can give back.”
