Crossroads South Africa began in 2011 and now operates under the leadership of Eddie Boersema. Crossroads South Africa has been resilient and adaptive, and the Lord has guided the ministry to slowly expand despite ongoing challenges. Following the death of their former director Alwyn and a countrywide postal strike, Crossroads South Africa has established a strong foundation of leadership, mentors and volunteers. Since 2015, there has been exponential growth to position South Africa as one of Crossroads’s largest extension centers. With more than 500 active students, approximately 195 volunteer mentors and approximately 450 hours of donated office work in 2016, Crossroads South Africa is bringing hope to many inmates.
In light of South Africa’s unreliable mail system, team members visit students each week to present a devotional message, answer questions and deliver lessons. Backed by strong support from prison officials, the program will continue expanding into additional facilities.
Surely I have learned so much! It has opened a new dimension in my study of the Bible and the impact on my personal life. For the first time I understand God’s mighty grace and His plan of salvation and sharing in Christ’s victory –Gervan L, Crossroads South Africa Student
