Most people behind bars work for hours just to buy a postage stamp
For just $10, you can eliminate the barrier of postage for one of our students for a year. Your gifts help men and women in prison study God’s Word alongside loving mentors from churches. Mentors offer hope and encouragement to incarcerated men and women who are hungry to grow in faith and knowledge. With your help, we can continue to offer this program at no cost to students.
“On average, incarcerated people earn between 86 cents and $3.45 per day for the most common prison jobs. In at least five states, those jobs pay nothing at all,” the Prison Policy Initiative shared in their 2022 annual report. Historically, the cost of stamps made participation in the Crossroads program impossible for many people. So, for the past few years, Crossroads has been providing a postage-paid envelope with each lesson.
“I just want to say thank you for these wonderful studies that are postage-paid. People on the outside don’t understand how expensive postage is when you only make $81.00 a month and need to call home daily,” James R., a student in West Virginia, wrote to us recently.
Thanks to our generous supporters, we can continue paying for student postage, allowing men and women in prison to stay in God’s Word with encouragement from mentors on the outside.
